Vehicle-Mounted?

First, consider whether it will be vehicle-mounted like a plow or large snowblower, or if you’d prefer something smaller you can hold or push by yourself. There are machines you can use to scatter salt or sand by hand and snowblowers you can propel, but larger areas and deeper snow will require something with a little more power behind it. If it’s vehicle-mounted, make sure the vehicle you plan on using can handle the weight of whatever attachment or implement you choose.

The Type of Equipment

Like we mentioned, there’s a wide variety of snow removal options. Snowblowers are common and good for lighter, fresher snows, and angle brooms are useful attachments that push snow with a series of bristles, which can leave gravel intact. Bladed attachments and equipment can push more deeply-packed snow, and different blades can do that in different ways, or you can use scrapers to break up dense ice. Spreaders, finally, are great for throwing salt and sand around to help improve traction and encourage melting.
